Remember 9/11/2001

11 years ago the Twin Towers were struck in New York, the Pentagon was hit in Virginia, Flight 93 crashes into a field in Pennsylvania.
At the time I was only 9 years old and wasn't exactly sure on what had happened.

The morning of September 11, 2001 I woke up to get ready for school as usual. The news was on like is was pretty much every morning and I saw the footage of the towers being  hit for the first time. All I wanted to do was cry. No I didn't know anyone in the towers, no I didn't even know anyone from New York. I knew what had happened. I knew a lot of people had died and even more were hurt. At the time I didn't know about the other highjacked planes and the other places they we're headed, I only knew about New York and I was scared.

I've always been a patriotic person. I had always considered joining the army even though I didn't think I would survive boot camp if I tried, but that morning all I wanted to do was fight. If i had been 18 and old enough to enlist I would have. There's no doubt in my mind that this day would have been the day I signed my life away to the army. If by the time I turned 18 I hadn't already been in a committed relationship with my now husband I still would have joined, but as it happens I was and our life was already being set and I decided the army wasn't for me.

I have yet to meet anyone who was directly affected by the September 11th attacks, which I mean I haven't met anyone who had family there or die in them, but I do know several people who joined the Armed Forces as a direct result of what happened that day. I know people who have died over seas defending our country that otherwise would not have been sent over seas if this had not happened.

The number of people they say died as a result is very high but in my opinion it's higher than people think. I not only count the people that were there that day, the ones in the buildings and planes and were hit, the firefighters and policemen, and all the people in the surrounding areas, I also count everyone who has died at war caused by these events. Now the number is much much higher and is still getting higher 11 years later.

This blog post is really sounding like an essay which it wasn't suppose to however I don't care. I wrote this to say Thank You to everyone who died or was injured that day and has since died or been injured because of it.

Thank you to everyone who cares about what happened.

Unforgettable September 11th photos

I know a lot of people don't like to look back on the photos and videos of what happened but I do. It helps me remember what happened and what is still happening.
